Rock Band 2: “What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse” FC Expert Drums 5 Gold Stars

UPDATE V2 “Techniques used”:
To start off, Double Strokes are pretty much manditory (or at least for me anyways). Especially at around 3:35. Also, with the blast (Gtr Solo) section), Pick up Derek Roddy’s “Evolution of Blast Beats” book. That’ll explain alot.

UPDATE: When/If I Re-FC this, I will be sure to incorporate a HANDS view.

I still am sitting here like “how the did I do this?”. To start, there’s no hands view ’cause I was only capturing screen to review for later on to see what errors I’ve made. This is about the um-teenth time playing this song and well, I wasn’t expecting to FC this. This is the first ever FC of this ong documented. It also put me in 1st place witha 5 gold star run.I’m sure I could have broken 400k if I had used the OD better, but I’m not bitchin’.

My lag settings are as follows:
Audio: 30
Video: 0
Dlby Digital: No.
Progressive Scan: On

I was using the World Tou kit so I could have double bass. Yes I used double bass.

Will I be able to do this again? MAYBE,

I use a Goodwood Mods drum kit.

I use Yamaha KP-65 Kick Towers and Tama Iron Cobra pedals.

I play drums in a real band

Rock Band 2: Clint Eastwood & Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz (Both Gold Stars) – Expert Guitar

“I ain’t happy, I’m feeling glad,
I got sunshine, in a bag….”

Today was a “Feel Good” day for me being a Rock Band player. My only other video of me playing this game was taken down by copyright months ago (lame ol’ WMG…), so I hope this stays up (it doesn’t seem like Gorillaz is under any copyright-heavy label) Anyways, I’ve been buying quite a lot of songs that I like from the store lately. Rise Against, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Toby Keith (yes, even country), but today was something I was looking forward to. Moment I realized we were getting a 3 pack from these guys, I just flipped out (don’t have room to play Re-Hash within the stupid time limit…) I’ve been HUGE fan of them since I was in grade school, so it’s so cool to finally be able to play these songs in RB. It’s also freaking awesome the way they handled Clint Eastwood’s presentation…

Here’s my main band in Tour mode, “The Dove & The Phoenix”, performing Clint Eastwood & Feel Good Inc. for your enjoyment. Hope you guys like enjoy it as much as I did playing it!

Note: Remember that I just play RB2 to enjoy the music that’s featured in both discs and the store, not to be L33T at it. I wasn’t shooting to FC any of these songs, although I could’ve FC’d Feel Good Inc if it weren’t for my weak ring and pinky fingers.

Good Mourning/Black Friday Gold-star – Rock Band 2 X Drums

Posted on 10th February 2009 by admin in rock band 2 cheat codes - Tags: band, black, drummer, Drums, Expert, friday, game, gold, good, guy, megadeth, mourning, rock, some, someguy, someguy913, star, video

To answer one of the most common questions (What pedal should I use without paying hundreds for a kick trigger?), for the money, I recommend the “Destroyer Pedal”, which gives zero double-hits, it’s metal, and it’s great for using heel-toe with. (Better than my DW5000, actually, due to DW’s short footboards.) You can get it at http://www.rockbandpedal.net/

First documented gold-star of Good Mourning/Black Friday by Megadeth!
Dubbed “the hardest rock band chart” by none other than azuritereaction, this one was definitely very difficult. (Though I still disagree that it’s actually the hardest… I don’t really think any song has decisively earned that title.)

Big thanks to creep from my stream for encouraging me to go after this gold by dangling $20 in front of me. XD

FAQ
1. Do you play real drums too?
Yes, I do. I’ve been playing drums for a little over 4 years now, focusing mainly on trap set, with some limited hand percussion experience as well. Before I learned to play real drums, though, I also played Drummania, a drum simulation game made by Konami and part of the Bemani family of music games. It really got me interested in drums, I highly recommend it if you can find a machine near you.

2. What do you use to play Rock Band? Is your kit modded or something?
Please see the link above entitled “Info on my Drum Setup”.

3. How much did your setup cost?
The Roland TD-6 SX-T that I use goes for around $2000 on Musician’s Friend, probably cheaper if you look on ebay or Craig’s List.

4. Wow, that’s a lot of money. You really spent $2k just to play Rock Band?
Nope, I bought the Roland kit months before Rock Band came out to do some recording and session work. I also badly needed a quieter way to practice drums in my apartment; an acoustic kit with silencers just wasn’t cutting it. It was just very good fortune that I already had the kit when people began discovering how to hook up MIDI kits to Rock Band.

5. Ok, but isn’t that kind of cheating?
I suppose everyone will form their own opinions about this subject no matter what, but the official word right now is that it is not cheating. Posts on both ScoreHero and the Rock Band forums have been made about this mod, and both the ScoreHero mods, rockband.com mods, and Harmonix staff have ruled that this type of kit does not invalidate competitive scores. They have, however, ruled that any sort of double-bass pedal mod would invalidate such scores. For the record, I use a single pedal.

6. What do you use to record your videos?
For the direct-capture I use an Adaptec Gamebridge. You can get them from Amazon.com for between $30-$50 USD. For the external view I use an older Sony Handycam. (It still records on Digital-8s…)

7. Why do you usually only hit the bass pedal during the Big Rock Ending? Doesn’t that get you less points?
For an explanation of how the points gained from a BRE work, please see the description of my Run to the Hills Gold-star video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPGiIZq93hE
Alternately, search the Technique forums at rockband.scorehero.com for in-depth explanations of BREs for both guitar and drums.

8. Can I add you as a friend/play Band Quickplay/Score Duel/hang out with you?
I’d love to! Unfortunately, I’m just one guy who also has a job, girlfriend, and is a full-time college student. So, what little time I do have for Rock Band, I’m usually spending either working on Solo Tour, or playing with my ScoreHero band, More Cowbell! http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2576
As for the friend thing, XBL only lets me have 100 friends, and I reached that limit a long time ago, and it’s getting very full of people I either know in real life or am in frequent contact with on Scorehero, so it’s really not likely. =/ Sorry. Don’t be afraid to send me a message, though. I can’t promise I’ll respond the same day or even the same week, but I’ll do my best to get back to you.

9. . Get a life.
Please phrase all insults in the form of a question. Also, see question #8.

THE HARDEST ROCK BAND DRUMS CHART EVER: Good Mourning/Black Friday (Rock Band 2 Expert Drums 5*)

Posted on 21st October 2008 by admin in rock band 2 cheat codes - Tags: 360, band, black, Drums, Expert, Five, friday, game, good, leaderboard, live, megadeath, mourning, RB2, rock, score, sskitzzo, stars, video, xbox

For more information about the video, click to read “more”.

This song is just insane. My best is a good 10,000+ more than this, but yeah, much harder than it looks.

The main difficulty comes in the fact that bass pedal hits are timed differently in RB2, as well as the notes being so scrunched together.

(my gamertag = sskitzzo)

The drumset i’m using is a “GoodWoods” set, a sturdy, quiet, responsive set with great rebound: you can get it at http://www.goodwoodmods.com/products.html

I’m using the “Destroyer Pedal” in this video, which is great for zero double-hits, it’s metal, and it’s great for using heel-toe with. You can get it at http://www.rockbandpedal.net/

And yes, I play drums in real life, been playing them on and off for 4+ years.
