Judging by how 2010 has gone so far, I might have numbers 1 through 8 for my best guitar dlc at the end of the year. Holy shit, this album has no weak songs on guitar save for Dawn Patrol which, in a Rock Band first, has no guitar part. This was absolutely brutal to sight read and I’ve had some other things on my mind lately so I played really for the most part.
It’s strange because I don’t really like metal, but this is the best DLC since Maiden in my opinion. I just really like Maiden and Megadeth. You can expect videos of better band runs later on when I’ve had time to digest everything. I’m pretty sure this album will destroy all the guitars I have since I downstrum 95% of this album. There were many points throughout the album where I had to just stop and recalibrate my head and hands.
Sight reads right here and we all completely killed the start of the song. That’s awesome. I lost track of how many solos were in this song.

This song is fun as to play, though the gold cutoff is pretty high. I estimate it’s about 50k above the score I got here, and I thought I did better than that. Ah well, I’ll practice and try again later.

This is also a 2nd run, not a sight read. I want to say it was a combination of playing like and knowing the GH2 chart so well that the distinctly different charts threw me for a loop. None of that changes the fact that Hangar 18 is finally playable again! I only own RB guitars because my GH stuff died and so I haven’t played GH2 in years and holy did I play a lot of Hangar 18 in GH2. Felt incredibly similar and different at the same time. Good stuff.

YAY – as far as I know I’m the first person to gold star this.
And before anybody gives this song shit, I REALLY like it – great that they’re finally including some good old fashioned death metal in a GH game.
Quite a to get gold stars – the cutoff is remarkably close, and if you miss more than 4 or 5 times, forget it.
However, I definitely think this song is quite FCable – there is no part I have yet to hit, although hitting them all in one run is going to be the problem.

FAQ
1. Do you play real drums too?
Yes, I do. I’ve been playing drums for a little over 5 years now, focusing mainly on trap set, with some limited hand percussion experience as well. Before I learned to play real drums, though, I also played Drummania, a drum simulation game made by Konami and part of the Bemani family of music games. It really got me interested in drums, I highly recommend it if you can find a machine near you.
2. What do you use to play Rock Band? Is your kit modded or something?
Please see the link above entitled “Info on my Drum Setup”. For Guitar Hero World Tour, I use the same drum kit, but run it through the WT stock kit’s MIDI port.
3. How much did your setup cost?
The Roland TD-6 SX-T that I use goes for around $2000 on Musician’s Friend, probably cheaper if you look on ebay or Craig’s List.
4. Wow, that’s a lot of money. You really spent $2k just to play Rock Band?
Nope, I bought the Roland kit months before Rock Band came out to do some recording and session work. I also badly needed a quieter way to practice drums in my apartment; an acoustic kit with silencers just wasn’t cutting it. It was just very good fortune that I already had the kit when people began discovering how to hook up MIDI kits to Rock Band.
5. Ok, but isn’t that kind of cheating? (UPDATED)
I suppose everyone will form their own opinions about this subject no matter what, but the official word right now is that it is not cheating. Posts on both ScoreHero and the Rock Band forums have been made about this mod, and both the ScoreHero mods, rockband.com mods, and Harmonix staff have ruled that this type of kit does not invalidate competitive scores. They have, in the past, ruled that any sort of double-bass pedal mod would invalidate such scores. However, since the release of the Guitar Hero: World Tour drum kit, it has become possible to use two stock bass pedals without any further modification besides a simple Y-splitter, and the kit can be used for World Tour and both Rock Band games. Accordingly, Scorehero now considers double-bass pedals legal and acceptable for competitive scores. For the record, I did use a double-pedal for certain sections of this video.
6. What do you use to record your videos?
For the direct-capture I use an Adaptec Gamebridge. You can get them from Amazon.com for between $30-$50 USD. For the external view I use an older Sony Handycam. (It still records on Digital-8s…)
7. Why do you usually only hit the bass pedal during the Big Rock Ending? Doesn’t that get you less points?

I know I usually do FBFCs with Beast Mode since they are my band, and don’t worry we have not broken up… but Ryan (Negatiive) and Jadon (JPrez) still have red ring. Oscar (Santos) wasn’t on, and JP borrowed an xbox from his friend for the night. The three of us (Jake – tatwhiteguy, Jadon, and Nick – njo) were just playing for fun, picked this song, and got a FBFC first try. Pretty awesome if you ask me.
Sorry to the people that were going for this, we didn’t mean to steal it or anything, it really was just a spur of the moment kind of deal. Jake is amazing – a lot of drummers have trouble FCing this in the first place, let alone the first try in a BQP! Make sure you go to subscribe to him if you like drummers.. he was (I think) the first RTTH DLC FC, or it was between him and someone else or something. Don’t remember.. all that matters is that he’s amazing! lol And I also love him because he and Oz (Santos) get along really well even though they are both super great and they don’t fight or compete or anything.
Oh yeah and I talked to Domo a few days ago for those of you that love Domo. Nick tried to get me to do some sweet editing thing on this video which I wanted to do, but I didnt have time since I have 3 tests this week and one is in about an hour.. and I haven’t started studying. Bad girl, I know. Oh well, maybe next time.
Also I have a break coming up from school soon so hopefully I’ll be able to make a new video for my other channel during that. As you all know, lazy Vix is lazy!
